Two women—a mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law—were killed and eight others injured when a passenger bus of Eagle Paribahan rammed into CNG-run auto-rickshaws in Chandanaish upazila in Chattogram.
The accident occurred around 11:30 AM on Monday (15 September) in Sonai Bottola area under Dohazari Municipality on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway.
The dead were identified as Fatema Begum, 75, and her daughter-in-law Shamima Akter, 40, residents of Kareji Bari in Chandanaish Municipality. They were returning home from Dohazari by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw.
Sergeant Mohammad Zia, duty officer of Dohazari Highway Police Station, said that passengers in two auto-rickshaws were seriously injured after being hit by Eagle Paribahan bus. Two of them died from their injuries. The injured eight were initially taken to Dohazari Hospital and BGC Trust Medical College Hospital, and later shifted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
The bus and the auto-rickshaws involved in the crash have been seized by the authorities.
