Missing man’s body recovered from pond in Jashore

Police recovered the body of a 32-year-old man from a pond at Ghiba village in Jashore's Benapole on Monday morning, two days after he was reported missing.

The dead was identified as Abdul Alim, son of Shahadat Ali of Sadipur village under Benapole Port Police Station.

According to Manik Saha, Officer-in-Charge of Benapole Port Police Station, locals spotted a floating body in a roadside pond early Monday and informed the police. Law enforcers later retrieved the body from the water.

Quoting the victim’s brother Ibrahim Hossain, police said Alim had left home on Saturday to visit relatives at Ghiba village and did not return.

The body has been sent to Jashore General Hospital morgue for autopsy to determine the cause of death.
