Bangladesh welcomes China's stance on election

Dhaka on Thursday warmly welcomed China's reaffirmation that the country's general election is its internal affair, appreciating Beijing's goodwill and confidence in Bangladesh's interim government and people to hold a smooth and orderly poll.

In a statement, Bangaldesh Foreign Ministry said Dhaka deeply valued the cordial relations between the two countries, which have received further momentum under the interim government, reports BSS.

Dhaka also reiterated its firm adherence to the "One China Principle," underscoring its consistent foreign policy position.

On Wednesday in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian said the Bangladesh general election is an internal matter of Bangladesh, adding that China upholds the principle of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs.

He expressed confidence that the interim government and the people of Bangladesh are capable of managing their own affairs and pursuing a development path suited to national conditions.

The spokesperson also voiced hope that Bangladesh would hold a smooth general election and advance its political agenda in an orderly manner.
