Jamaat seeks Turkey's cooperation to resolve Rohingya crisis

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami sought the support of Turkey to find a permanent solution to the Rohingya crisis, economic progress and cooperation in various important sectors.

 

Jamaat Ameer and opposition leader in Parliament Dr. Shafiqur Rahman informed reporters after an hour-long meeting with visiting Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan at a hotel in the capital city of Bangladesh on Friday night.


 A seven-member delegation led by Shafiqur participated in the meeting. Nayebe Ameer and deputy leader of the opposition Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, Secretary General Mia Ghulam Parwar, Assistant Secretary General Rafiqul Islam Khan and others attended the delegation.


 After the meeting, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that Turkey's sincere cooperation has been sought for a permanent solution to the Rohingya problem. In addition, Turkey's partnership and investment in various sectors including addressing the country's economic crisis, establishing the rule of law and increasing education, health and defense have been called for.


 He called Turkey a “tested friend” of Bangladesh and said, “Turkey has always stood by Bangladesh. In today's meeting, Turkey's more active role is expected in resolving the Rohingya crisis and its permanent solution.”
