Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) announced a 20-minute extension to the nightly schedule of MRT Line-6, starting from Sunday.
The decision to add extra trips in both directions comes in response to the rapidly increasing popularity of the metro rail service.
According to Mohammad Ahsan Ullah Sharifi, Public Relations Officer for the Metro Rail, the move is designed to better accommodate the growing volume of evening passengers.
Under the new operational timetable, the final train departing from the Uttara North station for Motijheel will now leave at 9:50 pm, pushed back from the previous 9:30 pm slot. Similarly, the last service from the Motijheel end toward Uttara North will depart at 10:30 pm instead of 10:10 pm.
Bangladesh’s landmark metro rail journey began on December 28, 2022, with the initial section connecting Uttara North to Agargaon. Since then, the network has seen significant expansion, launching full-scale operations on the entire Uttara-Motijheel route on December 31, 2023.
While the corridor is currently active up to Motijheel, construction continues at the Kamalapur station. Once that final segment is finished, it will mark the full completion of the MRT Line-6 infrastructure.
