The 13th Jatiya Sangsad will convene for its inaugural budget session on Sunday, marking a significant legislative milestone for the BNP-led government since it assumed office following the February 12 general election.

Scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm, this will be the second session of the current parliament.

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury is expected to present the proposed national budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year on June 11, outlining the new administration's economic roadmap.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin officially summoned the session on May 7, exercising his constitutional authority.

The upcoming sitting follows a highly productive first session of the 13th Parliament, which concluded on April 30. During that initial term, the House demonstrated an intense legislative pace, passing a total of 94 bills across 25 working days.

Political observers and economists are closely watching this session, as it will provide the first comprehensive look at the government's fiscal priorities, development strategies, and policy shifts under the newly elected leadership.
