BNP restores membership of 13 leaders

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has withdrawn the expulsion orders against 13 of its leaders, restoring their party membership. The decision was taken following applications submitted by the concerned leaders and was announced in a press release on Wednesday.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the expulsions were previously imposed for breaching party discipline and engaging in activities contrary to the party's policies and ideology. However, considering their appeals, the party leadership decided to revoke the disciplinary action in line with organizational decisions.

Those whose expulsions have been withdrawn include former Meherpur district BNP organizing secretary Zulfikar Ali Bhutto; former Sylhet district Mahila Dal vice-president Khodeja Rahim Kali; former Pirgachha upazila BNP joint convener Shah Md Farhad Hossain Anu; former Nandigram upazila BNP president Md AK Azad; former Nandigram municipal BNP president Md Kamrul Hasan Jewel; and several BNP leaders from Kahalu, Gabtali and surrounding areas of Bogura district.

The party stated that with the withdrawal of the expulsion orders, all organizational positions and primary memberships of the leaders have been reinstated.

The move is being seen as part of BNP's efforts to strengthen internal unity ahead of upcoming political challenges.
