2 BNP leaders expelled in Naogaon over party indiscipline

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expelled two leaders of its Niamatpur upazila unit of Naogaon district for violating party directives and carrying out independent organizational activities.

The expelled leaders were identified as Manzur Rahman, Joint General Secretary and Mehedi Hasan, Co-General Secretary of BNP’s Niamatpur upazila unit.

According to sources, the decision was announced on Monday from the BNP Naogaon district office, stated that both leaders have been relieved of all party positions, including primary membership.

Manzur Rahman, who previously contested the 2018 national elections from Naogaon-1, is again running in the upcoming 13th parliamentary elections on the BNP ticket.

Meanwhile, former MP and former Upazila BNP president (also expelled) Dr Saleque Chowdhury has submitted his nomination as an independent candidate and is actively campaigning.

According to the press release, Manzur Rahman and Mehedi Hasan allegedly campaigned in favor of Dr Saleque Chowdhury, violating party discipline.

District BNP General Secretary Alhaj Mamunur Rahman Ripon confirmed the incident through a press release and urged all leaders and members to strictly adhere to organizational rules in conducting party activities.
