BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that the country gained independence in 1971 and that independence was protected by the students' movement of 2024.
''Through this movement, the people of the country have demanded change such as reforms in the education system, access to healthcare for all and the ability to exercise political rights that had been taken away,'' Tarique made these remarks at an election rally held at the Polo-Ground in Chittagong city on Sunday.
''No development would be possible if the country remains trapped in criticism alone. People want change and political rights,'' he said, adding that, "Politics must move away from blame and accusations.''
