4 held with drugs in Jhalakathi

Joint forces arrested four individuals along with drugs and drug-taking equipment from Nalchity upazila of Jhalakathi district on Sunday night.

The arrested were identified as Rakib Sikder, 35 of Dapdapia village, Shipon Hossain, 37 of Timirkathi village, Sohag Talukder, 37 and Bashir Sikder, 34 of Bhatarkathi village, all from the same upazila.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team led by Captain Tanvir and Captain Saiyar from Nalchity Army Camp conducted a drive in the Zero Point area of Dapdapia union and arrested them with drugs.

Joint forces recovered 100 grams of hemp, 23 pieces of Yaba pills, 100 grams of foreign tobacco, drug preparation equipment, mobile phones, three locally made and foreign arms, cash money, driving licences and eight national identity cards from their possessions.

Confirming the incident, an army official said that the arrested, along with the seized items, were handed over to Nalchity Police Station for further legal procedures.
