Adviser to BNP Chairman and party's Election Steering Committee Spokesperson Dr Mahdi Amin on Saturday announced that the party plans to provide free institutional internet across the country if it forms the government.

Speaking at an event titled “The Role and Responsibilities of ICT Sector in Building Tomorrow’s Bangladesh”, Mahdi Amin said BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has outlined a phased plan to bring schools, colleges, universities, offices, rural digital centres, hospitals, railway stations, airports and other public spaces under free internet coverage.

“Our goal is to ensure easy access to information and modern services for all citizens,” he said. “People in employment or entrepreneurial activities will benefit from free internet, enabling them to strengthen their economic pursuits. Inshallah, in the future, internet will be for everyone.”

Mahdi Amin also emphasized people’s empowerment, saying that BNP will provide suitable opportunities and facilities for talented individuals.

He noted that the party has begun working to introduce PayPal services in Bangladesh in response to freelancers’ demands.

Highlighting the party’s employment plans, he added, “BNP will create one million jobs in information technology sector.”
