COX'S BAZAR, Jan 31: BNP Standing Committee member and the party's candidate for Cox's Bazar-1 constituency, Salahuddin Ahmed, continued his intensive door-to-door campaign across Chakaria and Pekua without a break.

On Saturday, the eighth day of his electioneering, he carried out mass outreach activities in Chakaria Municipality.

He began the day by visiting the grave of renowned local Islamic scholar, the late Maulana Mahmudur Rahman, in the municipal area. He then campaigned in several wards, including Bimanbandar Para, Jalia Para, Hindu Para, and Amainnar Char Halka Kara, where large numbers of people from all walks of life, including women, gathered to meet him. During the interactions, Salahuddin sought votes in favour of the BNP's electoral symbol, the sheaf of paddy.

Addressing a roadside rally at Kazi Para in Chakaria Municipality, Salahuddin said, "We stand for Bangladesh. If you cast your votes for the sheaf of paddy, a strong democratic system will be established in the country so that no one can ever again snatch away our voting rights or suppress democratic and human rights."

He said the country's youth had reclaimed democracy through the student-led mass uprising by shedding blood, aiming to establish a discrimination-free society and a truly democratic state system. "So that we never again have to sacrifice blood to regain our voting rights, we must take the right decision this time - in favour of the forces that stand for Bangladesh and the spirit of the Liberation War," he added.

Highlighting BNP's role in nation-building, Salahuddin said the party is the founder of multi-party democracy and a proven force for development. Under the leadership of late president Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia, BNP played a proud role in education, women's empowerment, and state governance, he said.

"On February 12, by voting for the sheaf of paddy throughout the day, Insha'Allah, we will build a peaceful, secure, well-governed, and democratic Bangladesh," he added.

Among others present were Chakaria Municipal BNP President Nurul Islam Haider, former general secretary of Chakaria Upazila BNP Prof Mu Fakhruddin Foraji, Chakaria Municipal BNP General Secretary M Abdur Rahim, Organising Secretary Nurul Amin, and other party leaders.
