Students of polytechnic institutes lifted their blockade on the Satrasta Intersection around 3:10pm on Tuesday, almost three hours after enforcing the move, demanding the withdrawal of a recommendation on BSc engineer recruitment.

They demand the government drop the recommendation on including bachelor of science graduates as potential candidates for the government post of deputy assistant engineer under 10th grade. At present, polytechnic institute graduates with their diploma degrees are the only aspirants for the post.

Earlier, around 12pm they blocked the intersection from multiple sides, creating acute gridlock across a large part of the capital.

Before ending the demonstration, they gave the government 24 hours to meet their demand. Otherwise, they would announce stringent demonstrations on Wednesday.

In the announcement, the protest organisers would call on polytechnic students from across the country to march towards the capital and enforce stronger demonstration, they warned.
