9 more children die of measles symptoms

Nine more children died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, including seven in Dhaka, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The latest DGHS report, released on Thursday, said 945 new cases were recorded during the same period.

Since March 15, a total of 698 children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms nationwide. Of them, 93 deaths have been confirmed as measles-related, while 605 children died with symptoms associated with the disease.

During the same period, 11,442 measles cases were confirmed through medical tests, while 96,653 patients were admitted to hospitals with measles symptoms.

Dhaka division has reported the highest number of infections and deaths. According to the DGHS data, the division recorded 318 deaths linked to measles and related symptoms, while 52,155 people were affected.

The figures cover the period from 8:00AM on March 15 to 8:00AM on June 25, according to the health authorities.
