A crude bomb was reportedly thrown by miscreants in front of the residence of Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Arif-uz-Zaman on Tuesday evening.

According to sources, the incident occurred around 7:30 PM, resulting in a loud explosion that spread panic across the surrounding area.

Police arrived at the scene immediately and security has been tightened throughout the locality. Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation into the attack.

This is not the first such incident in the district. On January 28, a crude bomb was thrown at the residence of a judge of the Gopalganj District and Sessions Judge Court. On January 26, a similar device was hurled in front of the main gate of Gopalganj Science and Technology School.

Another explosion occurred at the Ansar Battalion office compound in Bedgram area on January 30. Earlier, on December 12 last year, a crude bomb exploded in front of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.

Despite multiple incidents, authorities have yet to apprehend those responsible.
