Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) has partnered with ActionAid Bangladesh to support 150 marginalized girls under the "Support 150 Girl Children" initiative.

Through this corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, EBL will provide one year of support to girls aged 4 to 18 from underprivileged families in Khilgaon, Narayanganj, Cox's Bazar, Lalmonirhat, and Naogaon. The programme will focus on ensuring access to education, essential study materials, life skills training, and community-based protection mechanisms to create a safe and enabling environment for their growth.

A cheque to support the initiative was formally handed over by Ziaul Karim, Head of Communications and External Affairs at EBL, to Farah Kabir, Country Director of ActionAid Bangladesh, at a ceremony held at EBL's head office in Dhaka recently, says a press release.

Farah Kabir, Country Director of ActionAid Bangladesh, said, "This partnership with Eastern Bank reflects how the private sector can play a meaningful role in advancing children's rights. Together, we are ensuring that vulnerable girls are not left behind and are given pathways toward opportunity and hope."

The event was attended by senior officials from both organizations, including Maruf Mohammad Shehab, Head of Innovation and Resource Mobilization; Kh. Shams AL Muzaddid, Manager, Philanthropy and Private Sector Partnerships; Abdullah Al Mamun, Manager, Child Sponsorship and Child Rights from ActionAid Bangladesh; and Md. Maskur Reza, FCA, Head of Business Information Systems from EBL.
