Hasnat Abdullah, chief organiser of NCP (South) and candidate of Jamaat-led 11-party alliance, has vowed to rebuild what he described as a “broken state structure” following his decisive victory in Cumilla-4 (Debidwar) constituency in 13th national parliamentary election.

Speaking to journalists at Cumilla Town Hall ground on Friday, Hasnat said, “This election was a fight against a powerful political bloc. But the people were with me. They had trust in me. That is why I have won.”

He added that his top priority would be establishing justice and fairness, stressing that the state system should operate so that even his opponents do not face injustice.

Hasnat emphasised that eradicating “fascism” is a core objective of his party and pledged to pursue accountability, zero tolerance for corruption and comprehensive reform of state institutions.

In the election, Hasnat secured a landslide victory with 166,583 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Jasim Uddin, who ran with Truck symbol and received 49,885 votes. The winning margin stood at 110,136 votes.
