Train services to and from Kurigram resumed on Thursday evening after remaining suspended for nearly 12 hours following a truck accident on the railway track in Rajarhat upazila.

The train movement restarted at around 6:45PM after railway workers removed the sand and overturned truck from the track, Lalmonirhat Divisional Railway Manager Mohammad Taslim Ahmed Khan confirmed.

The disruption began at around 7:10AM when a sand-loaded truck lost control and overturned onto the railway line near a petrol pump area in Rajarhat, blocking the route and cutting off rail communication between Kurigram and the rest of the country.

The Dhaka-bound Kurigram Express failed to reach Kurigram Railway Station on schedule due to the accident. Later in the evening, the Ramna local train left for Teesta after the track was cleared.

Railway officials said after prolonged efforts, the truck and sand were removed and the damaged section was cleared. Regular train operations on the Kurigram route have now resumed, the divisional railway manager said.
