The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation (CEC) has commented that the overall environment of the Bangladesh's 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum was peaceful and festive.
This information was shared in a press release on Sunday (February 15) issued by the Russian Embassy in Dhaka.
According to the embassy, a delegation from the Russian CEC visited Dhaka on February 11–12, led by its Commissioner Pavel Andreyev.
The representatives took part in the international observation program organised on the occasion of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum.
The delegation visited more than 40 polling booths across eight centers in Dhaka and Narayanganj to monitor the voting activities from first to last.
According to the observers, there was widespread enthusiasm among voters. Many of them said that, following the fall of the government in July 2024, this was a long-awaited election for them. Some even came to polling centers accompanied by their children. Political competition, they noted, remained confined strictly to the ballot.
The Russian observers reported that security arrangements were extensive, with more than 900,000 police and army personnel deployed nationwide. While some isolated incidents were reported, these did not affect the overall conduct of the election.
