Nasimul Gani new cabinet secretary

Newly-appointed Cabinet Secretary Dr. Nasimul Gani has described his new role as a significant responsibility placed on his "fragile shoulders" at a critical juncture in the country's history, pledging to discharge his duties to the best of his ability.

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Monday, shortly after assuming office at the Cabinet Division.

Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification appointing Dr. Gani-who had been serving as Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs on a contractual basis-as the new Cabinet Secretary, also on contract.

The appointment comes just two days after a change in the position. On February 14, Chief Adviser's Principal Secretary M Siraj Uddin Mia was given additional charge as Cabinet Secretary following the cancellation of the contract of then Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid.
