Hero Alam held in Bogura rape case

Police on Thursday arrested content creator Ashraful Alam, popularly known as Hero Alam, in connection with a rape case filed on allegations of sexual assault under the pretext of marriage.

He was arrested from Majhira Bandar area of Shajahanpur upazila in Bogura district.

Following his arrest, police produced him before the Bogura Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1, while Judge Anwarul Haque later ordered him to be sent to jail.

Acting on a tip-off, police took up position in Majhira port area. From there, he was arrested and produced before the court.

According to the case statement, Hero Alam raped, physically abused and forcibly caused an abortion of a woman named Sadia Rahman Mithila after luring her with promises of marriage and assurances of making her an actress.

When he later refused to marry her, Mithila filed the case on April 21 last year with the Bogura Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal.

Bogura Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mostafa Manjur confirmed the detention and said that the arrested has been sent to jail after being produced before the court.
