Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chow-dhury on Wednesday said the change in the governorship of Bangladesh Bank was part of a broader administrative reshuffle by the new government aimed at implementing its priorities and policy agenda.

"Changes have not taken place in Bangladesh Bank only; they have occurred in many places also," he told reporters at the Secretariat in response to questions regarding the replacement of the central bank governor.

Asked about the reasons behind the change, Chowdhury said, "There is no specific consideration.

A new government has come with its own priorities. Naturally, changes are happening not only in Bangladesh Bank but in several other institutions as well, and this process will continue wherever necessary."

He added that the government's programs, preferences, and policy ideas will guide these administrative adjustments.

"Wherever it is needed to implement our policies and priorities, changes will be made. This is a natural and routine process," the Finance Minister said.

The government recently appointed Md Mostaqur Rahman as the new Governor of Bangladesh Bank, replacing Dr Ahsan H Mansur.
