Bangla Academy to confer award on poet Mohon Raihan

The government has decided to present the Bangla Academy Literary Award to poet Mohon Raihan.

Earlier, after the announcement of the award, criticism arose in various newspapers and social media. In response, the award was temporarily suspended and a decision was taken to review the allegations raised.

The Ministry of Cultural Affairs said in a statement that the award will be handed over to Raihan at Bangla Academy at 11AM on Monday.

However, the poet said he has yet to decide whether he will accept it.

An emergency meeting was held at the Ministry of Cultural Affairs on Friday to verify the allegations. The Cultural Affairs Minister, State Minister and Secretary were present at the meeting.
