Vitamin A campaign set for June 28 nationwide

A nationwide Vitamin A capsule campaign will be held on June 28 after a long break, with the government targeting more than 23.5 million children aged between six and 59 months.

The campaign, organised by the Institute of Public Health Nutrition, aims to provide Vitamin A supplements to 23,514,972 children across the country.

Of the targeted children, 2,838,794 are aged between six and 11 months and will receive blue Vitamin A capsules, while 20,576,178 children aged between 12 and 59 months will be given red capsules.

Dr Mohammad Yunus Ali, director of the Institute of Public Health Nutrition, said preparations are underway with 120,000 centres ready for the campaign. Another 500 mobile centres have also been arranged to ensure wider coverage.

He said the required capsules have already reached authorities, with the remaining supply expected soon. He urged parents and guardians to take their children to the nearest centres to receive the supplements.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain, speaking at an event in Dhaka on Tuesday, said the government has resumed the Vitamin A campaign after a long suspension and called on all concerned to work sincerely to make it successful.
