Television actress Samia Othoi has accused fellow actress Tanjin Tisha of physically assaulting her during the shooting of a television drama in Manikganj on Monday.

Confirming the incident, Samia said the altercation occurred while filming a drama directed by Rafat Mazumder Rinku. Efforts to obtain a response from Tanjin Tisha were unsuccessful.

In a Facebook Live broadcast, Samia detailed her allegations, stating that tensions arose from the first day of shooting. She claimed she had brought a gift for Tanjin Tisha, which was refused.

Later, during the filming of an early scene, she alleged that Tanjin Tisha struck her, leaving her hand bleeding, an incident reportedly noticed by senior actor Shahiduzzaman Selim and the director.

Samia further alleged that Tanjin Tisha had previously issued verbal threats discouraging her from working with actor Mushfiq Farhan, adding that similar warnings were allegedly given to other actresses.

According to Samia, the situation escalated during the final scene, which involved a scripted slap. She said she lightly touched Tanjin Tisha’s cheek in accordance with the scene’s requirements but was subsequently struck forcefully several times by Tanjin Tisha, resulting in facial swelling and difficulty speaking.

She also alleged that she was verbally abused when she questioned the behavior and said she intends to lodge a formal complaint with the Actors’ Guild, expressing disappointment at the conduct of a senior colleague.

Samia Othoi said she has since returned to Dhaka and maintains that the assault was intentional and unjustified.

As of filing this report, Tanjin Tisha has not issued any statement regarding the allegations.
