ACC chair, two commissioners resign

The chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission and the two commissioners have resigned, marking the latest shake-up in key positions since the new government took office.

ACC chief Mohammad Abdul Momen and commissioners Mia Mohammad Ali Akbar Azizi and Hafiz Ahsan Farid met the cabinet secretary at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon. Their resignations were confirmed afterwards.

Speaking to reports after submitting his resignation letter, Azizi said he had stepped down for personal reasons. "I submitted my resignation for personal reasons. We worked for the past 15 months. Our performance will be judged by you," he said. 

"However, I can say that compared to previous commissions, we have done more work."

Officials said Momen and the commissioners were carrying out official duties at the ACC headquarters in Segunbagicha earlier on Tuesday before submitting their resignations.
