Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Acting Commissioner Md Sarwar said that the professional skills of female police personnel working in the force are being strengthened through various training programmes.

He said the initiatives aim to enable them to contribute more effectively in their respective fields and play an active role in the process of women's empowerment.

He made the remarks on Sunday at a seminar organized by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police at its headquarters conference room, marking International Women's Day.

The day is being observed in Bangladesh, as in other countries around the world, under the theme: "Today's action for tomorrow's justice-ensuring the rights of women and girls are protected." The message of the day highlights both the long struggle for women's rights, dignity, and equality, and the commitment to building a safer and more just society in the future.

Extending greetings to women on the occasion, DMP Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md Nazrul Islam said that the Creator made men and women complementary to each other. "If women did not give birth, humanity itself would not exist. Women are involved in every aspect of life," he added. The event was chaired by Joint Police Commissioner (Transport) Shamsun Nahar. Senior police officials were also present at the seminar.
