One killed, two injured in Netrokona road crash

An individual was killed and two others were injured in a road crash at Purbadhala upazila in Netrokona district on Friday.

The crash took place between a trolley and motorcycle at around 11:30 am on the Station-Deo-tukone road adjacent to Chochaura Modern Ideal School in the Sadar union.

The deceased was identified as Md. Sajudul Haque, 58, son of late Abdul Gafur of Chochaura village in the upazila.

Meanwhile, the injured are Mofazzal Hossain, 28, and 12-year-old Anas, son of Alal Khan from Tikuria village in the same upazila.

Locals said that a motorcycle carrying three individuals was heading towards Purbadhala when a brick-laden trolley, coming from the opposite direction, crashed with them. The impact left one dead in the spot and two others critically injured.

Seeing the incident, locals rescued the injured sent them to the nearby Upazila Health Complex from where they were shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Purbadhala Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Didarul Islam confirmed the incident and stated that the vehicles involved in the incident, motorcycle and the trolley, were seized from the spot.

However, the trolley driver managed to flee the scene soon after the crash, he said.

The body of the deceased has been recovered and brought to the police station. Legal action is underway regarding the matter, he added.
