A Dhaka court on Thursday placed former Director General of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) Lt Gen retd Sheikh Mamun Khaled on a five day remand in connection with the Delwar Hossain murder case filed with Mirpur Model Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Siddique Azad passed the order after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defence, rejecting a bail petition filed on behalf of the accused.
According to court sources, the investigating officer and Detective Branch Sub Inspector Kafil Uddin produced the accused before the court and sought a seven day remand, citing the necessity of custodial interrogation.
The remand application stated that interrogation was required for "arrest of the accused named in the complaint and collection of the exact names and addresses of the unknown accused," as well as for "uncovering the main mystery of the case and recovering the weapon used in the incident."
