RS Fahim sent to jail in uprising murder case

A Dhaka court on Monday ordered the imprisonment of content creator RS Fahim Chowdhury in connection with a murder case linked to an anti-discrimination movement.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order, as police produced him before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court. A bail petition filed by the defense was heard and the court set Tuesday for the next hearing.

Fahim was detained on Sunday afternoon by locals & students and later handed over to police. 

According to the case statement, the incident occurred on July 19 during a procession brought out by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in front of Shahjadpur Subastu Tower on July 19, 2024, where demonstrators allegedly came under indiscriminate gunfire. Victim Md Imran, 30, was shot while expressing solidarity with protesters and later died at a hospital.

The case was filed in April 2025, in connection with this incident.
