The members of Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) arrested three Chinese nationals for illegally manufacturing 'Ketamine' drug in a Dhaka's Uttara lab.

They said the gang used the dark web to receive orders for drugs from different countries around the world and procure the drugs through the same medium through international courier service. Transactions were made through cryptocurrency.

DNC's Director General (DG) Md Hasan Maruf gave this information at a press briefing in their headquarters on Tuesday.

He said that DNC intelligence had long monitored drug trafficking via courier services. Acting on a tip-off, a raid on March 25 seized a parcel where ketamine was concealed inside a Bluetooth speaker. Further investigation led to Uttara, where three Chinese nationals were arrested from a residential flat in the same day.

During the operation, 6.300kg of Ketamine, a large amount of chemicals (sulfuric acid, ethanol, alcohol), various lab equipment, digital scales, packaging equipment, mobile phones and local and foreign currencies were seized from a temporary lab in a flat in the capital, he said.

The DG said that these evidences indicate that the gang was involved in the organized processing, storage and international trafficking of drugs.
