Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman has said that 16 ordinances issued during the interim government era require further scrutiny and were thus not placed before the Parliament at this stage.

He made the remark at a press briefing on Sunday at the Secretariat, following a meeting on the next steps regarding the 133 ordinances enacted during the tenure of the interim administration. Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed and Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni were also present at the briefing.

The Law Minister alleged, "Certain quarters are spreading confusion" by claiming that the government has omitted the ordinances. He said that although issues of transparency and accountability were clearly reflected in the legislative proposals, they were being misrepresented, and urged all concerned not to spread confusion.
