In broad daylight a man was shot and robbed of $ 17,000 by unidentified assailants in the capital’s Motijheel area on Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred at around 3:00pm in front of a Janata Bank branch. This information was confirmed by the officer-in-charge (OC) of Motijheel Police Station, Kamaruzzaman Talukder.

The victim, identified as Lokman from the capital’s Shahjahanpur area, was reportedly accosted by a group of assailants who had been trailing him.

According to the OC, the attackers demanded the cash Lokman was carrying. When he resisted, they opened fire, striking him in the hand and leg before fleeing with the dollar amount.

Police officers and bystanders rushed the injured man to Mugda Medical College Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment for his gunshot wounds.
