Siblings drown in Natore pond

Two brothers tragically drowned in a pond at Singra upazila of Natore district on Friday.

The incident took place at Baro Adimpur village of the upazila at 12.30 PM.

The deceased were identified as Fahim Hossain, 13, and his younger brother Tamim Hossain, 12, sons of Abdul Momin, from Shahjahanpur area of Sherpur Upazila in Bogura district.

Since their father is abroad, the boys had been living with their mother at their maternal grandparent’s house.

According to local sources and police, the two brothers went missing after falling into a newly excavated pond near their residence. 

After a frantic search, their bodies were recovered from the water and rushed to Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared them dead upon arrival.

Singra Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam confirmed the death. 

A police team visited the scene at approximately 6:00 PM, added the OC.
