Convicted drug case accused held in Khulna

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) arrested a convicted and warrant-listed accused in a drug case during a drive in Khulna city on Thursday.

The arrested was identified as Biplob Sheikh, also known as Bikram Sheikh, a resident of Chalitakhali area in Pirojpur district. He had been absconding after being sentenced to a total of 12 and a half years in three drug-related cases.

According to RAB, a team of RAB-6, CPC Headquarters Company, conducted a drive in front of Khulna Medical College Hospital under Sonadanga Police Station on Thursday based on a tip-off and arrested him.

RAB sources said the accused has a total of nine cases filed against him in different police stations of Bagerhat, Pirojpur and Khulna metropolitan areas, including seven drug cases, one assault case and one robbery case.

After the arrest, he was handed over to Sonadanga Police Station for further legal action.
