Man shot dead in front of son in Pabna

A 53-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the presence of his son in Pabna district on Monday evening, police and family members said.

The victim, Hossain Ali, was killed around 7:30 pm in front of Jameya Ashrafia Madrasa in Pabna town.

Hossain Ali was a resident of Jafarabad village under Goyeshpur union in Pabna Sadar upazila and worked as a staff member at the madrasa.

According to family members, he had gone to the madrasa to drop off his son, who studies there, when a group of attackers targeted him. The assailants allegedly fired two rounds at him before reloading their weapons and opening fire again.

Hossain Ali sustained critical gunshot wounds and collapsed at the scene. Local residents rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

His son was present during the attack, family members said.

The killing has sparked fear and tension in the area. Police visited the scene, collected evidence, and launched an investigation into the incident.

Law enforcement officials said efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved. Investigators are examining the motive behind the killing and working to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
