Heatwave was felt on Friday in country's 18 districts against the previous day's (Thursday) 21 districts, indicating a slight contraction in its surging trend.

Also the maximum temperatures dipped slightly. Yet the intensity of the heat felt by residents remained largely unchanged.

In the capital, temperatures fell slightly, but the heat-level of the temperature remained similar to Thursday.

According to sources at the Meteorological Department, the heatwave conditions may persist in several districts till today (Saturday).

A bulletin signed by Meteorologist Shahinul Islam reported that the highest temperature on Friday was recorded in Rajshahi at 37.8 Degree Celsius, against the Thursday's highest temperature 38 in Jashore.

The heatwave is currently sweeping across all districts in Khulna Division, along with seven others: Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Dhaka, Feni, Bandarban, Rangamati, and Patuakhali districts. With 10 districts in Khulna Division alone, the total number of affected districts stands at 18, the bulletin said.

Earlier this month, heatwaves impacted various parts of the country before subsiding due to storms and rainfall. However, the past week has seen a resurgence of high temperatures. On Wednesday, Rajshahi recorded the highest temperature of the year at 40.

In Dhaka, the highest temperature on Friday was 36.2, slightly lower than Thursday's 37.
Meteorologists have indicated that rainfall may occur in different parts of the country starting Sunday, which could bring a slight drop in temperatures.
