The female teacher of Daokandi Government University College in Rajshahi, who was assaulted by a local BNP leader, has been temporarily suspended following a viral video showing her physical confrontation.

The incident has led to action against both parties involved.

Aleya Khatun Hira, a teacher at the college in Durgapur upazila, was suspended on Sunday afternoon after an inspection visit by regional education authorities.

Professor Moha Asaduzzaman, Director of the Rajshahi Regional Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, confirmed the suspension, stating it was imposed in the interest of investigation.

The incident occurred on Thursday when a video showing a physical altercation between Hira and Akbar Ali, vice-president of Joynagar Union BNP under Durgapur upazila, went viral on social media. The footage drew immediate attention from the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, prompting authorities to launch an investigation.

Prior to the teacher's suspension, BNP took action against its own member. On Friday (April 24), the party expelled Akbar Ali for indecent behavior with the female teacher. The expulsion was announced through a notification signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

The BNP notification stated that Akbar Ali entered Daokandi Government University College in Durgapur, Rajshahi, engaged in vandalism and behaved indecently with a teacher. The party acted swiftly to distance itself from the member's conduct.

The viral video on social media platforms brought the matter to public attention, forcing both the educational authorities and the political party to respond. The temporary suspension of the teacher is part of the ongoing investigation to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
