Man held over killing of Tanti Dal leader in Khulna

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) has arrested a suspected accused in a murder case of a local political activist in Khulna’s Khalishpur area.

The arrested was identified as Md Rony, also known as Nata Rony, who is accused in the killing of Tanti Dal leader Sona Mia.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-6 officials conducted a drive around 7:30 PM on Monday and arrested him in front of a bus counter at the traffic intersection of Bagerhat Sadar.

RAB said the accused had been on the run since the incident, moving between different locations to evade arrest.

Law enforcers said a review of his criminal record shows that he is facing at least six cases, including murder, currently under trial. He is also accused of involvement in drug trade in Khalishpur area.

RAB-6 confirmed the arrest through a press release issued on Tuesday morning and handed him over to Khalishpur Police Station for further legal action.
