Heavy to very heavy rain likely in 5 divisions: Met office

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in five divisions over the next 24 hours starting from 9:00 AM on Wednesday.

According to the latest Met office bulletin, moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in parts of Mymensingh, Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions.

The bulletin also noted that light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds and lightning, are likely in many areas of Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. 

A few places in Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions may also experience similar weather conditions.

Daytime temperatures across the country may drop slightly, while night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

On Tuesday, the highest temperature was recorded in Jashore at 35.4 degrees Celsius. Today’s lowest temperature was recorded at 19 degrees Celsius in Nikli and Narayanganj.

Over the past 24 hours, Nikli recorded the highest rainfall, measuring 160 millimetres.

In Dhaka, the sun is expected to set at 6:26 PM on Wednesday and rise at 5:25 AM on Thursday.
