The government has announced a price hike for soybean oil, increasing the rate by 4 taka per liter effective immediately.

Commerce Minister Khandker Abdul Muktadir announced the decision during a press conference regarding edible oil prices held at the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday.

Under the new pricing structure, bottled soybean oil will now retail at 199 taka per liter, up from the previous price of 195 taka.

Loose soybean oil has also seen a similar increase, rising from 175 taka to 179 taka per liter.

The Minister attributed the adjustment to the rising costs of commodities in the global market, noting that international price hikes have forced the government to revise domestic rates.

Minister Muktadir urged consumers to remain patient and consider the volatile global economic landscape.

He emphasized that the price adjustment is expected to stabilize the local supply chain and ensure that the market remains well-stocked, preventing potential shortages.
