DU barred 7 entry points for World Cup frenzy

Dhaka University authorities have officially barred seven key entry points to the campus, strictly controlling vehicle access. 

Official notice from proctor’s office on Wednesday announced restrictions to manage World Cup crowds and ensure campus security.

Restrictions apply to Shahbag, Doyel Chattar, National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, Shibbaria residential area, Fuller Road, Palashi area, and Nilkhet area. 

Access is now reserved exclusively for vehicles bearing official university stickers and designated essential services, including ambulances, medical staff, journalists, and verified food delivery transport. 

Public buses and heavy vehicles are strictly prohibited from entering the campus grounds for the duration of the tournament.

While the measures are currently in force, the administration has left room for flexibility.

Officials indicated that these protocols are subject to change based on stakeholder feedback and the actual situation on the ground. Students and staff should prepare for tighter security checks at these seven locations until further notice.
