Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has issued a stern directive to clear all police stations across the country of brokers and middlemen, vowing that any official found guilty of corruption or professional negligence will face severe consequences.
The Minister delivered the order during an unannounced inspection of the Ramna Model Police Station in the capital on Saturday.
In a statement released following the visit, he instructed senior leadership and frontline personnel to overhaul service delivery mechanisms to better serve the public.
During his visit, the Home Minister toured the station’s essential facilities, including detention cells, service desks, and rooftop barracks.
He took the opportunity to speak directly with citizens present at the station to gauge their experiences and the quality of assistance they were receiving.
Addressing on-duty officers, the Minister emphasized that honesty and fairness are non-negotiable requirements for building public trust. "Proven allegations of negligence or involvement in corrupt practices will be met with the most stringent disciplinary actions," he warned.
Minister Ahmed further stressed that police stations must operate as transparent and accessible hubs for the community.
He noted that the presence of unofficial intermediaries, or "brokers," who often interfere with legal processes for personal gain, would no longer be tolerated.
The visit also included a strategic discussion with senior officials regarding operational challenges and service gaps.
The Minister underscored that the integrity of the force depends on its ability to provide sincere and unbiased service to every citizen without any form of malpractice or external interference.
