Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal Md Aminul Islam has said that information indicates at least 58 people were killed in connection with Hefazat-e-Islam rally at Shapla Chattar on the May 5, 2013.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Aminul Islam said the deaths were reported across three locations --Dhaka, Narayanganj and Chattogram.
Preliminary findings suggest the involvement of 30 individuals, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in connection with the killings, he added.
According to the chief prosecutor, incidents of violence and fatalities occurred in Dhaka both during the day and at night on May 5, 2013. Additional killing took place the following day in Narayanganj and Chattogram.
He noted that investigations are ongoing.
