Six more children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, according to the latest report released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.
Of the deaths, four children died with measles-like symptoms, while two were confirmed measles cases. During the same period, 1,445 new children were either infected with measles or showed related symptoms.According to DGHS data, a total of 317 children have died from measles and its symptoms nationwide over the past one and a half months. Among them, 54 deaths were confirmed as measles cases, while 263 children died with symptoms.
Between 8:00am on March 15 and 8:00am on May 3, a total of 5,726 confirmed measles cases were recorded through laboratory tests. Additionally, 42,979 children with measles-like symptoms sought treatment at hospitals during this period. Dhaka division reported the highest number of infections and deaths, with 163 children fatalities and 23,360 infected cases.
