A total of 47,040 Bangladeshi pilgrims have so far reached Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj this year, with 10 deaths reported, according to the latest official bulletin released on Wednesday morning.
The update noted that pilgrims traveled on 120 Hajj flights. Among them, 4,071 traveled under government management, while 42,969 made the journey through private arrangements.
Of the deceased, eight died in Makkah and two in Madinah. Two of those who died were women.
Flight data shows that 22,038 pilgrims traveled on 55 flights operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 16,508 on 44 flights by Saudia, and 8,494 on 21 flights by Flynas.
This year, a total of 78,500 pilgrims from Bangladesh have been granted permission to perform Hajj. The operation is being coordinated by 660 agencies, including 30 lead agencies and 630 coordinating agencies.
The first Hajj flight departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on April 17 at 11:57 PM, carrying 419 pilgrims to King Abdulaziz International Airport. The flight was inaugurated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
