Light rain is likely in the capital and adjoining areas over the next six hours, while the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a warning for temporary squalls and thunderstorms in 12 regions of the country.
According to an evening forecast issued by the BMD's Storm Warning Centre on Wednesday, the sky over Dhaka and nearby areas may remain partly to temporarily cloudy from 7:00 pm, with a chance of light rain.
South to southeasterly winds are expected to blow at a speed of 10 to 15 kmph, while the night temperature is likely to remain nearly unchanged.
In a separate forecast for inland river ports, the BMD said that between 4:00 pm and 1:00 am, the regions of Dhaka, Faridpur, Kushtia, Jashore, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet may experience temporary gusty or squally winds at speeds of 45 to 60 kmph, accompanied by rain or thundershowers.
The department advised river ports in the affected areas to hoist Local Cautionary Signal No. 1.
