A Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinee died after falling from the rooftop of a multi-storey building in Mymensingh city, just hours before the start of her examination on Thursday morning.
Deceased Tisha Sarkar was an HSC candidate from Mintu College. She was the daughter of Uttam Sarkar and Moni Sarkar of Madhya Bazar in Tarakanda upazila. For the past two years, she had been residing at a female students' hostel in Nasa Tower, located on Mosque Road in the Kachijhuli area, where she was pursuing her studies.
According to police and local sources, the HSC and equivalent examinations for 2026 were scheduled to begin at 10AM on Thursday. At around 6AM, approximately four hours before the examination, Tisha reportedly fell from the rooftop of the six-storey building and sustained critical injuries.
Local residents rushed her to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty physician declared her dead.
Other residents of the hostel said they were asleep when the incident occurred and were therefore unable to explain how she fell.
Kotwali Model Police Station team recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
