DGFI ex-director Nasher remanded again in Aug 5 case

 
A Dhaka court on Friday placed former DGFI director Lt Col (retd) Afzal Nasher on a fresh three-day remand in a case over alleged financing of violence, incitement to sabotage and terrorist activities during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Kotwali Police had sought a seven-day remand, saying further interrogation was needed to identify funding sources, planners and other suspects involved in the alleged activities.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ripon Hossain granted the remand after a hearing at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court.

According to the investigation officer, Nasher provided important information during an earlier three-day remand, which is now being verified. Police said further questioning is necessary to identify unnamed suspects, trace funding sources and uncover those allegedly involved in operations against protesters.

Investigators also alleged that Nasher acted as a financier and associate of the previous government and played a role in organising activities to suppress the movement.
