The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) has called for the publication of a white paper on the activities of the interim government led by Dr Muhammad Yunus, alleging irregularities in governance, economic management, and policy decisions.

Speaking to The Daily Observer, CPB President Kazi Sajjad Zahir Chandan said, "Dr Yunus took the opposite position to the aspirations that led to the July Uprising," he said.

He alleged external influence and internal collusion in policymaking. "America and the communal forces have given shelter to the extreme reactionary forces and they have looted. This force was mired in corruption," he claimed, adding that recent actions reflected "conspiring to sell the country by creating unequal trade with America," which, he argued, "an interim government cannot do in any way."

Raising concerns over the timing of key decisions, he said, "By doing this just three days before the elections, Mr Yunus implemented his own agenda."

He further alleged that the country's economy, which was destroyed during Hasina's tenure, had further destroyed it.

Chandan demanded a comprehensive and independent assessment of the government's record. "A white paper should be published on who is looting, who is corrupt, who has not brought the measles vaccine, and those responsible should be punished," he stated.

He also called for disclosure of details relating to international agreements. "We are in the movement, on the streets, fighting against the unequal trade agreement with America. How the agreement was signed, who crafted it, the information must be made public," he said.

Indicating continued political mobilisation, he added, "We are on the road. We are putting pressure on the government. Let's see what happens."
